China Wipes Out New Year Celebration Plans Citing Coronavirus Outbreak

Today Beijing has announced canceled colossal Chinese New Year festivities in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. Officials in the capital of China have quashed all events, including temple fairs, that can bring in thousands of travelers. Even more, they have requested citizens to reinforce prevention against the virus liable for the death of 25 people. The latest strain of coronavirus has affected over 800 people in various regions. The list of affected areas includes Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, the US, and China. Beijing officials have published a post on Weibo, a twitter-like social network in China. They have noted that the move to scrub celebrations has assisted in preventing epidemic as well as control.

The Beijing Culture and Tourism Bureau said the effort is to control the outbreak and protect the health and lives of people. Besides this, they aim to reduce crowd gatherings and make sure people have a peaceful and harmonious Spring festival. The agency also noted that they had scrubbed all the extensive events like temple carnivals. On the other hand, the flu-like virus, that can transmit from person to person, continues to spread across various regions. Wuhan, China, the city hosting 11 million people, is the origin of the epidemic that began in December.

Meanwhile, the US CDC has prepared its tourism notice for Wuhan to the utmost of three phases. The agency noted in the announcement that it had raised the Warning status to Level 3. Even more, the CDC has recommended the tourists to avoid all unnecessary journeys to Wuhan. It has also recommended travelers to stay alert while traveling to other regions of China by staying away from sick people, animal markets, and animals. Meanwhile, the WHO says the virus is spreading more easily from one person to another than previously thought. Dr. David Heymann, the head of the committee collecting data on the virus, said, currently, they are watching second- and third-generation circulation.

Premature Menopause Increases the risk of Severe Health Issues After The Age Of 60

A new study has found out women who go through premature menopause are at greater risk of chronic health conditions later in life. These chronic health issues include diabetes and heart disease also. Normally women experience menopause after the age of 50. However, when menopause strikes at the age of 40, women become more prone to a higher risk of health issues. The study has been put together by scientists from the University of Queensland. Authors of the study have advised that women with premature menopause should be screened for severe health issues. This study has been published in the Journal of Human Reproduction.

Researchers have followed more than 5000 women in the age group of 45 to 50 years from 1996 to 2016. Experts have enquired whether these women have or have been treated for diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, depression, anxiety, breast cancer, heart disease, and stroke in the past three years. The findings of the study have shown that some 71 percent of women, who have gone through early menopause, have been diagnosed with multiple chronic conditions compared to the 55 percent of women who got menopause at the age of 50. Keeping all the other factors aside for the chronic disease, experts have observed that early menopause increases the risk of severe diseases by three-fold. The condition in women with two or more chronic diseases is called multimorbidity. Multimorbidity is quite common in middle-aged and early elderly women.

As per the scientists, in the span of 20 years, 2.3 percent of women have experienced early menopause and 55 percent of women have been diagnosed with multimorbidity. Researchers have said that genetic differences trigger premature menopause, which is linked to severe health issues. Reduced oestrogen production as well speeds up the aging, which leads to severe ailments. Doctors should provide a comprehensive screening to the women who are at risk. They have said multimorbidity should be taken as a clinical and public health priority.

Drink Green Tea for Living Longer and Healthier Life, Scientists Say

Are you a habitual green tea drinker? Well, you would live a long and healthy life then. A new study indicates drinking green tea less often three times a week could lessen the chances of demise from cardiovascular disease. A team of Chinese researchers has discovered the health gains linked with green tea, regardless of black tea. During the trial, scientists have analyzed over 100,000 adults over seven years. Also, the candidates did not have had a history of cardiovascular diseases or cancer. It included two types of people, one who consumed green tea regularly and another class comprised of occasional tea drinkers.

The study has found that frequent tea consumers had a 20% fewer chances of experiencing a heart attack or heart disease. Even more, such people are less probable to die from a heart-related disease or stroke. Notably, the researchers have discovered usual tea consumers could hopefully live around 1.26 years longer at age 50 than occasional tea drinkers. Dr. Dongfeng Gu, a co-author of the study, said they had discovered positive effects of regular tea drinking. Notably, the impact remains extremely notable and robust across different results for males and modest for females. Gu said, their trial included around 48% of habitual green tea drinkers, and just 8% favored black tea. Thus researchers were unable to prove the same particular relation between black tea, longevity, and the decline of these diseases.

It is the latest study focusing on the potential and positive health effects of green tea. From the past few years, many studies have related the beverage to positive impacts like improved cholesterol levels and body weight. Even more, many studies have revealed green tea consumption lessens then chances of heart disease and some cancers. Those studies, like the latest one, have remained observational. While analysis, researchers have questioned people regarding their habits and other factors. After that, they have followed the health results.

Several Amazon Employees Fired For Leaking Customer Phone Numbers, Email Addresses

Amazon has fired several employees for leaking phone numbers and email addresses of many customers. The Seattle based company is informing customers, whose personal data have been shared with a third party, via emails. “We are writing to you to inform that your phone number and email address were shared with a third party. This is in complete violation of our policies and therefore the employee has been terminated. No other information related to your account has been leaked,” the mail reads. A customer took to Twitter to share his experience after his information was leaked. The customer claimed that he received at least 20 spam phone calls in the last two days and wondered whether calling Amazon customer care would change anything.

The company has also informed customers that it has taken action against employees involved in it. “Employees responsible for leaking information have been sacked and Amazon is supporting law enforcement in their prosecution,” a spokesperson of the company said in a statement. The e-commerce giant has refused to share the exact number of employees that have been terminated. It has also not shared the number of customers whose information was shared with the third party. There is also no clarity about why the information was leaked.

The incident took place close on the heels of the e-commerce giant firing four Ring employees. Ring is Amazon’s home security company. The employees were fired for abusing their ability to access and view customers’ video feeds. This information was shared through a letter to five Democratic Senators of the United States. After taking action against the employees, Amazon limited the number of people that can access such data. The company also said that it would continue to determine whether those people continue to need access. A similar incident took place in October 2018 when Amazon fired an employee for leaking personal detail of customers with a third party. In November 2018, a technical error exposed email addresses and names of customers. Amazon said that it was investigating claims of employees that their data was leaked for bribes by the third party. Third-party has become increasingly crucial for the e-commerce giant for its overall business.

A strange pneumonia epidemic has affected dozens of people across China. As per Chinese scientists, the virus belongs to the same family as the fatal SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome). They have discovered that a new coronaviruses present in 15 out of 57 affected people in the central city of Wuhan, Hubei province. As per the latest reports released on Thursday, they have had previously recognized it as a pathogen for the epidemic. The report noted researchers had obtained the entire sequence of the genome. Even more, a sample from gathered from a patient has revealed the presence of typical coronaviruses while viewing under an electron microscope.

According to the WHO, coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that result in various illnesses. The diseases range from the common cold to SARS. Besides this, the infection might lead to coughing, fever, or fatal conditions like kidney failure. Sometimes, Coronaviruses may result in the death of the patient. Well, some of these viruses spread from one person to another, while some do not. Reportedly, SARS has affected over 8,000 people and liable for the death of 774 in an outbreak that spread through Asia and other nations between 2002-2003. Even more, coronaviruses are also responsible for fatal MERS, i.e., Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, which first emerged in Saudi Arabia in 2012. As per the WHO, since then, the devastating MERS has killed more than 800 people across the globe.

As per researchers, the newly-discovered coronavirus in Wuhan seems not to be as fatal as MERS or SARS. Patients affected by the new virus experience fever. Also, most of the patients have trouble while breathing. Reportedly, around eight patients have recovered from the impact of the virus. Fortunately, no deaths have taken place because of the new coronavirus. Officials said they had not discovered evidence of the virus spreading from one human to another. But WHO says coronaviruses can affect animals as well as humans.

Proteins in Skin Trigger Allergic Reactions to Beauty Products, Study Finds

Some people are allergic to cosmetic products and perfumes. Until now, it was unclear what triggers these reactions. Now scientists at Columbia University, Monash University, and Harvard Medical School have found some allergic elements present in cosmetics that can stimulate T cells in humans. The trial has focused on minor chemicals that usually exist in botanical extracts and essential oils. The researchers have also analyzed the role of CD1a, a common protein present in the skin of humans. They say it plays a crucial role in stimulating allergic reactions to cosmetics.

The research, published in the journal Science Immunology, has discovered various chemicals that have emerged as hits. It also includes analysis of farsenol, an alcohol used in cosmetics as a fragrance. To revel the role of CD1a, scientists have used Balsam of Peru. It is an oily tree gum present in various organic as well as cosmetic products, including soaps and toothpaste. According to researchers, many CD1a particles contain natural blockers that would inhibit an excessive immune response. Even more, CD1a is a significant protein present in the human skin’s outer layer. Well, the reaction starts if T cells present in the immune system identify a chemical as an external body. Usually, T cells do not recognize tiny chemicals. Thus the study suggests it is essential for small chemicals to combine with a larger protein. As a result, they become visible to T cells.

Annemieke de Jong, the study’s co-author, said many small elements of cosmetic products that initiate allergies lack the chemical groups essential for this reaction to take place. She also noted that T cells are unable to track these small chemicals. The study suggests various chemicals that initiate ACD (allergic contact dermatitis) can combine with the molecules of CD1a and activate T cells. Jong noted their research reveals the role of chemicals in triggering T cell activities. The study does set the ground for the upcoming studies to validate the mechanism in allergic people. Even more, it would assist in developing inhibitors for the reactions.

Over 200 Drugs To Get Costlier By Up To 10 Percent In United States As GSK, Pfizer, Others Hike Price

GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Sanofi, and some other drugmakers have decided prices of around 200 drugs in 2020. The price hike is expected to be up to 10 percent across the board, according to Axis Advisors. GlaxoSmithKline said it will raise prices of drugs like Zejula, Ellipta inhaler, and some other products in its HIV-focused ViiV joint venture. There are a total of 30 drugs manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline that will get costlier. Similarly, Sanofi has decided to raise prices of at least 10 drugs and the hikes will be in the range of 1 percent to 5 percent. The drugmaker said that it won’t raise prices of drugs above medical inflation.

Arthritis medication Xeljanz and cancer medication Ibrance manufactured Pfizer are also expected to expensive by around 5 percent. According to Pfizer spokesperson Amy Rose, over 40 percent of drugs that will see an increase in prices are sterile injectables. Some drugs will see a hike of less than USD 1. Another company on the list is Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. It has increased prices of over 15 medicines and some of them will be more than 6 percent costlier. A company’s spokesperson said that it is a regular affair to review prices in the context of the cost of production, market conditions, and availability. The entire list of drugs that will get costlier is yet to be released.

The United States has higher drug prices when compared to other countries as it leaves pricing to market competition. This has made it the world’s most lucrative market for drug manufacturers. In several countries, drug prices are directly or indirectly controlled by governments. The hike in drug prices comes just days after the Donald Trump administration proposed a rule to allow the import of cheaper medicines from Canada. Trump, a Republican, has failed to deliver on a promise to lower drug prices before the next presidential election. Earlier in December, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would cap prices of some of the most expensive drugs in the United States based on international prices.

Exercising May Assist in Prevention of Various Types of Cancer, Study Finds

All of us are aware of the benefits of exercise. It plays a crucial role in maintaining health and a healthy lifestyle. Thus most people attempt to do a bit of physical activity whenever possible. Well, a new study reveals a unique benefit of exercising regularly. The research, published in the Journal of Oncology, suggests regular physical activity might assist in avoiding seven various types of cancers. The trial includes data from 9 group studies. The extensive clinical research also includes information on more than 755,000 people having age between 32-91 years. The scientists have estimated the figures, including the above-mentioned exercise rates and cases of cancer for a decade.

According to the study, people who do just 150 minutes of moderate exercise every week is good. Besides, the effort can minimize the chances of getting seven kinds of cancer. Note that the study includes participants from two different categories. One group has exercised for two-and-a-half hours, and another has done the moderate physical activity for five hours. Researchers say the exercise may be any physical activity like brisk walk up to 20 minutes, or a simple bicycle ride.

Scientists have discovered exercising in ways, as mentioned above, could lessen the risk of having liver cancer by 18%. Notably, the results have remained the same in both males and females. Apart from this, they have seen a 6% lower risk of breast cancer due to moderate exercise up to two and a half hours. Surprisingly, the risk has lowered by 10% after doing moderate exercise for five hours. They have also noticed a decreased risk of kidney cancer in people of both exercising groups by 11% and 15%, respectively.

Above all, the findings indicate exercise comparatively cuts cancer risk as it assists in losing pounds. Active people, even though they don’t lose weight, could gain protection against various cancers. Dr. Alpa Patel, a co-author of the study, said their finding is good news for lots of people. Researchers say exercise also offers protection against other diseases, like type 2 diabetes and heart diseases. Even more, it assists in improving sleep and mood. But most of the people are unable to meet their exercise needs. All in all, it is best to do moderate exercise every day.

Xbox Series X – First Look and its exclusive features

Xbox Series X – First Look and its exclusive features

The next generation of consoles is coming, a preliminary understanding of the future of the Xbox.

Console design

The footprint of the X series is almost the width of the Xbox One controller (again) about three times the size. The power button doesn’t say anything in front of the slot where you can insert a shiny Xbox logo disc. Overall, this falls short of the simple, sleek, and elegant design of the old Xbox, although not only the latest Microsoft consoles like the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X but also their sleek look, the strict aesthetics of the X series not seen in the console space.

New controller

But not everyone has changed dramatically. The new Xbox controllers that ship with the X Series consoles are similar to the original Xbox controllers. The most significant difference, by far, is the addition of a share button in the center. It will allow you to share the game with your friends quickly. It also taught me that the transition from the controller surface to the upper rear is smoother than before. It can be more aesthetic than ergonomics.

Simplify the game

While the console controller and the name display were at the center of the meeting, Spencer and Ronald were able to explore the different objectives of the X series. They hope to make it the most powerful console on the market, but they want to ensure that it is a console that meets the needs of developers and customers. According to our current knowledge, high-end performance is part of it, but it streamlines the process of engagement and fun of the game.

How is the cloud?

A recent X019 event in London announced that the consumer service xCloud would be available during 2020 as part of a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Game Pass is already famous. It only seems to gain value when xCloud started joining the conversation, mostly when accessing hundreds of games with low monthly rates.

Children consuming fluoridated formula shows a significant drop in IQ

Children consuming fluoridated formula shows a significant drop in IQ

According to a new Canadian study, children consuming formula constituted with fluoridated drinking water shows a substantial drop in IQ. The research paper shows a decrease of 4.4 IQ points with every 0.5 mg/L increase in fluoride concentration in water. Moreover, this result came from the observation of preschool children who consumed formula during the first six months of their lives. Scientists did not find any association between the IQ of breastfed children and formula-fed children.

Furthermore, the study shows that exposure to Fluoride has a significant impact on non-verbal intelligence than on verbal intelligence. The co-author noted that using optimal fluoride water to reconstitute infant formula might diminish the development of intellectual abilities in young children.

A team of researchers examined almost 400 mother-children pairs. And was a part of Maternal-infant Research on Environmental Chemicals project? They tested the municipal drinking water in the resident cities. They broke down the water to 38% fluoride and 62% non-fluoride. Moreover, they asked questions to the mothers of children between 30 to 48 months about infant feeding. They also requested the timings and duration of the formula vs. breastfeeding vs. a combination of the two.

The fluoride exposures were estimated via municipal water treatment data and the feeding data from breastfed and formula-fed subjects. Further, researchers assessed the IQ via Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-III.

Fluoride could be beneficial during teeth eruption in children. However, the fluoride water is not helpful for infants whose primary teeth do not erupt. The result of the study shows that formula-fed infants who reside in fluoridated areas have a 70-fold higher intake of Fluoride than exclusively breastfed infants.

Moreover, formula-fed infants also retain more Fluoride than breastfed infants because infants have a limited capacity to excrete Fluoride before renal function reaches its full capacity at about two years of age. The estimated fluoride intake may be more in the children as researchers did not add the fluoride intake from other sources. Even children’s toothpaste and foodstuff also have fluoride content. Hence, children’s IQ could be in danger due to excess fluoride intake.
